Tansy
Tansy, I saw on another posting that you were asking about the Transformer TF300. I just received mine today (howīs that for timing?). Itīs charging right now, so I donīt know much about it, but if youīre interested, Iīll let you know how it goes.
I bought it because I wanted a substitute for my laptop, Walkman, Kindle and camera. The camera on a tablet is normally just ok, but this one actually takes nice enough photos that I donīt need my camera. Some folks say that you look goofy taking photos with a tablet, but since Iīll be wearing padded shorts that look like diapers, well, looking goofy isnīt my biggest concern
It should save me some serious weight, so Iīm really excited. FWIW, I did a lot of research on tablets, asked a lot of questions and then checked out customer reviews, etc. Iīm a true technodinosaur, so it has to be user friendly. Overall, this particular tablet seemed to have what I wanted for touring. Once I have a chance to use it, Iīll post some photos for you to see.

Nice! I've not been keeping up with technology much for the last year, but now that I'm looking into tablets, this one seems to be the mythical object which everyone agrees is good. Haven't found a bad review yet, actually.

OK...so far, I absolutely love this tablet! If youīre pretty computer-literate, you should too. My biggest problem has been that I know very little about computers and the instructions (none, other than telling you safety and what button is what) assume a competence that I donīt have. Itīs too embarrassing to tell you just how little I know, but letīs just say that Iīve been using the search button on my laptop a LOT. Thatīs my fault, not the tabletīs and I found a TF300 forum that has been very technodino friendly in walking me through things that most 3 year olds already know. Thereīs also an online instruction book thatīs good...if youīre more technical than me (again, most people are).
The picture is really crisp and clear and video runs really smoothly. The rear camera takes nice, clear photos (8 megapixels) and the front camera (Skype, etc) was nice, too. If youīre really into photography, you might prefer a super-duper camera, but for my needs and to help weight reduction, this is fine. The screen is very responsive. You barely touch it and whoosh! I tried the maps app at a local coffee house and it immediately gave my location within 20 meters. Downloading apps is a breeze and fast.
I like the size even though itīs slightly large because when I type, it feels more natural on the QWERTY keyboard. No, I canīt type as fast as normal (70+wpm) because you canīt rest your fingers on the screen, but it sure is better than hunting/pecking. For me, the docking keyboard isnīt needed as itīs just not that important.
Iīll try to post some pics today.

As promised, here are a few pics that I took this morning right after the rain It's a bit overcast and I haven't tried changing the f stop or anything other than doing a close up. These are nothing more than point and shoots. I'm getting the hang of the tablet, now I hope I can actually post
the pics.
the pics.

This thread is bad for my "Going away for a long time" budget.
Interesting to hear about the keypad. One of the few negative comments I've heard about this tablet is the software keypad. Still think I'd like to go with the docking station, if I'm doing all my journaling.
