it rains in England. All the time, in fact.

use a plastic bag, or your arse. Its worked since before there was plastic.

I like the plastic bag idea, it will make the bike look more like a beater, give it that homeless person type of transportation look. That would be pretty cool aye?

wax it.

But i still like the Aardvark cover for riding all day in the rain. it keeps the saddle drier.

An added plus of an Aardvark - bike saddle now looks like a cheap saddle. Good for the cities. And touring in the cold.

Use plastic bag underneath Aardvark. Change it every month or so.

Skip the aardvark. Get one of these: https://www.randijofab.com/products-page/saddle-covers

I only use it if it's raining (which apparently never happens anymore where I live), but I have a buddy who keeps his on his B-17 full time and it is still waterproof.

I only use mine in the rain too. When I go on my little weekend trips I put the Aardvark cover in the handlebar bag in case it rains, I also put it on at night while I sleep in case of a sudden rain.
