Overnight Parking in the Adirondacks

I'm planning on a 4 day tour in the Adirondacks (Piseco Lake area) in Sept. Wondering if anyone knows of free overnight parking in the area. I assume I can just park at a trailhead for a few days and bike from there?

My basic loop would be Rt8-Rt30-Rt28-Rt8. Anyone done this, have advice?

There are many hiking trailhead parking areas, also parking areas for canoeing access, or you could look up a Warmshower host in the area for secure parking at their house.

I've never had any issues parking at trailheads for days at a time. Though that might have something to do with having an ancient car. ;-)

Never did that loop, but I did part of Rt. 28 this summer. Gorgeous ride!

Parking at trailheads in Oregon was a near guarantee of at least one broken window. They even took a sweaty old pair of sneakers from my truck. There are safer places- I'd go with the warmshowers host recommendation.

The Adirondacks tend to be, well, a little more civilized. ;-) I was hiking there once and met a guy who was astounded that I would leave my stuff unattended all day at my campsite. He was from the west coast and regaled me with many tales of stuff being stolen while camping.

I've been taking multi-day hikes and canoe trips in the adirondack's for 30 years, no problem (of course that will change now that I said this), but from all the Adk hiking/paddling boards I read there is very little car breakins. Happens of course, just not often. But like I said best bet is a Warmshowers host.
