Well, I took a pic of the stuff I have yet to put on (their all mostly still packaged as I'm also waiting to find out what I'll be getting this coming Tuesday) here's the picturehttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=289495

Woot! I'm almost done with my build now! I got almost everything (expecting my last part, crankset. at the LBS tomorrow) I then put almost everything put on this weekend, and take it in to have the LBS put on the cable housing, brake cable, and chain on next Wednesday. You all can expect a finished pic next weekend.

Good news people! I got my build back from the shop today! I'll be taking and posting pics of it tomorrow though as I'm hungry and it's dinner time here. So glad it's finally done, though that bike shop's mechanics won't be getting my business again, not with all the stuff they put me through.
I'll post tomorrow though!

HOLY CRAP! You built a bike and decided to put on grip shifters and weird U-brakes? HAHAHAHA!!! I'm lauging so hard I'm cyring. Oh lawdy.

No offense, whatever turns your "crank". :D

draig 01-09-13 09:37 PM

hehehe, yeah. I decided on twist shifters, and canti brakes. canti's (imo) are better than V brakes and my frame and fork can't take disk. I preffer twist shifters too over any other type anyways.

Plus, like you said, "whatever turns your crank" ;)

Though, those pedals aren't the ones I got on my new bike now. I took my old pedals (Shimano PD M-324's) I like them to much. those platforms went on my old bike that I sold. I just don't have the room in my small apartment to have two bikes, and no access to storage large enough.

Those are nice pedals. I have the Shimano platforms that clip into a SPD pedal. Looking forward to the photos.

I you know how to set them up and adjust them

the grip shifters mean you will use Trekking.. or MTB bars, and maybe bar-end bars.

draig 01-10-13 01:36 PM

Well, I'm working on figuring out which pic I'm gonna upload (editing them right now) so you'll all see how I got it set up.

So, it's not awkward with those bars? One person claimed the frame geometry was for drops.

In any case, can you say what the shop did to lose your business? Are the Sram grip shifters really working with the Shimano derailleurs? Do you have a full parts list?

I like the trunk idea in the back. I bought one myself. If I remember correctly, mine is a Axiom Robson. My project is still in boxes.

draig 01-10-13 07:12 PM

No, it's not awkward with those bars, I'm really liking them. With my setup there's ALOT of positions.

The shop I went to just kept saying it'd be ready this day, and telling me they didn't have the part to complete the work they were supposedly doing so they'd have to order it, then after ordering said part would push the date back again. Big headache in short.

The grip shifters are working well with the shimano deraileurs too. and said parts list I would have to go over my bike and figure out what's what. and some of the things I honestly don't know (for instance, the cable routers on the down tube bosses or the cable housing)

Yeah, my trunk is a Jandd rear rack pack I. I use said trunk for when I'm riding with a backpack for quick errands, usually just has my lock and camera in it. and maybe spare water bottle.

What frame you got anyways?

Oh, lol, you didn't see my thread. I currently have a 54cm Nashbar touring frameset and 17 inch WDCycle Elite frame.

My story is a long and somewhat weird one. When I started accumulating parts after I got the full frame and fork on sale for $112.50, I changed my ideas one month to the next. Pretty soon, I had almost two of everything you put on a bike so I bought another frame. I decided (I think for the final time, lol), I'd put Falcon friction shifters, Sora front derailleur and Alivio rear derailleur on my Nashbar touring frame and Shimano STX-RC (MC-41) shifters (equivalent to Deore and possibly higher), Deore LX front and rear derailleurs on the Elite mountain bike frame. I wish I had all the parts to complete them now because I'd like to take pics post them. The mountain bike will have orange Origin8 sealed headset and Origin8 orange seatpost clamp, orange platform pedals and orange Sunlite grips. The Nashbar frame will get a gold colored Origin8 sealed headset and gold Origin8 seatpost clamp. The saddle will likely be brown and brown leather Strida grips. Both will get Deore brakes and levers with Jagwire brake pads. In the coming months ahead, I'll see what I can do.

Pics comparing both frames :)

draig 01-10-13 08:22 PM

Well, I got a Shimano Alivio drivetrain on that Nashbar build, along with Tektro canti brakes and I don't remember the levers, I think their also Tektro but I could be wrong, they are made for canti's anyways. On that Nashbar build though, you'll want cable routers for the downtube bosses at least that's what the mechanic said from that LBS.

If I'm wrong someone please let me know.

Also, hybridbkrdr. I eventually would like to get a different front deraileur. the one I got now is so high it covers up the bottom boss for the seatpost cage. but for now, it works.

hybridbkrdr 01-11-13 08:12 AM

What kind of tires and cranks did you choose?

draig 01-11-13 09:05 AM

Cranks are 175mm Shimano Alivio 22-32-42's and the tires are Continental Touring plus (700 X 37C)
