"On the Road" Brand Panniers?

Howdy,

Anyone have any experience with the On the Road brand panniers? Local seller has a pair pretty cheap, but a quick Google search came up with minimal info. Did a Google search of BF as well and found bupkis.

I know they're not Ortlieb or Arkel quality, but am curious.

Thanks folks.

if you do buy them, just be wary of a tendency to drug use and buggery, not to mention aimless wandering.

They look like the style that mount by hanging across the rack and fastening with velcro. Probably not terribly expensive. Not sure I would pay $40 for them when I can get a pair of modest Garneau panniers at Nashbar for that. You'll really have to look at them to tell the quality, however. Can't tell a thing from those pics other than the general shape.

If they seem decent enough in person, I'd suggest offering $20.

I didn't even notice they were "saddlebag" style, but I think you're right. Meh. Other than that, I was curious if anybody had experience with them. Think I'll pass on these. Mainly cuz I don't really want to drive to town right now.

If they were known good quality, maybe, but not for a questionable set. I'll just hit REI when I'm through the ATL in a coupla weeks. My small commuter set will do til then.

Thanks.

what can I say, that was just a stream of consciousness response, Allen Ginsberg memories coming back etc.

passing on them, prob the best thing without seeing them. Up here theres an outdoor store named MEC, which like REI and Nashbar, has very reasonably priced panniers, so it makes sense to check out what is available new before spending the same (ish) on a used whatever, espeically if not knowing how well it is made, what shape its in.
