Gulf Coast Bike Tour

I'm planning a Gulf Coast bikepacking tour between New Orleans and Panama City in mid-April. Does anyone know in what direction are the prevailing winds that time of year? I.e. Is there any advantage to riding the coast west-to-east vs. east-to-west?

I did part of this last year. Based on the 30 year average for April 15th, high temps and wind direction & speed are New Orleans 76, South @ 15; Mobile 77.6, South @ 12; Pensacola 76.3, SE @ 12; and Apalachicola (closest to PC) 76.1, SE 10.

Enjoy the ride!

Maybe you can get the information you need at https://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/climate/windrose.html

We had expected S or SW winds for our ride, St Martinsville, La to St Augustine, in Oct. Instead got nearly constant light headwinds. All you can do is go with the historical record. Overnighting options are listed at the end of our journal. Might help a bit.

Got in 64 miles today with 18 mph winds.

You can have winds 20-35 mph sometimes.

We did on this tour.
