Comparison between Trangia and Esbit alcohol stoves
Bottom line: Extra bulk and heft of the Trangia add up to a more efficient stove.

Guess it depends what you call a 'stove'. You're actually comparing the performance of the burner / stand / windscreen / pot , combinations for each as sold as a kit. Have you experimented with swapping burners between the two kits or varying the cooking height or pot size on the Esbit?
Most alcohol stoves are sold without any of those accessodies and pot selection, flame protection and distance definately affect performance.

Alcohol stoves are great. I own a Trangia Mini. It works great and lasts a long time. An efficient windscreen will make up most of the differences between the various makes. Al
