It comes with the panniers and racks, as you'll see! And it fits! Such a steal!

One very happy person!

Your saddle is very low for a bike that fits.

Thanks John!

I'm hoping to hit the road as soon as I can! Gotta service it first and make sure everything is working properly!

Cue, *Hit the road, Jack. Don't come back, no more no more no more!*

I don't know, I was hoping to find that out here. The brands on it read, "Rensch Avio" - a Swiss brand by all Google searches. But I can't find the bike make itself! Anyone got any ideas? I know that the picture itself isn't too clear. I'll post more soon.

jhawk, Good for you, if I remember the pickings were a bit slim where you are.

The only info I found was Paris Bicycles founded by Harry Rensch in the UK.

And, prepare yourself for a deluge of questions...

As for a new saddle... I know that the industry-best is Brooks... You all recommend it and I don't know where I could buy one here in Canada. But, there are obviously other saddles out there and I guess it's a trial-and-error thing.

Here's a couple more pictures! I know they're practically the same as the first, I'll upload different ones ASAP.

First up though, is this list:

2 x 700c road tyres.
1 x 700c inner tube.
1 x Bicycle multi-tool. - Anyone know a good one? Preferably below $30.
2 x bottle cages.
1 x frame bag.
2 x cycling shorts.
1 x cargo pants, zip-offs.

Thanks for the support guys! If anyone has any tips on where to find the above-mentioned, then that'd be delightful!

Cheers,

Jhawk.

I am planning a tour for later on in the month, and so I'll pick up some of the things I'll need for it and then head off. Keep you all updated.

Unfortunately, must be off now. Gotta go and coach our local school soccer team!

Have a great day everyone!

I like to shop this place's factory outlet (OK, it's a room off their office), since it's close to where I live--nice solid color jerseys or lycra shorts for $15. The mail-order prices are pretty good, when the free shipping is factored in for orders over $50. They used to be called Sierra Touring.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, they only ship free to the US and I'm in Canada with no way to get across the Border to pick whatever up.

I'm now looking at a new saddle for the bike, as mine is really uncomfortable. I know that Brooks saddles are widely regarded as the industry-best and you all recommend it. What do you lot recommend when it comes to saddles other than Brooks? (Cheaper alternatives, not looking to go super-cheap, but a little cheaper).

Thanks,

Jhawk.

You should first measure the width of your sit bones, then get a saddle that's a bit wider than that so it supports your butt bones. Here's an illustration:

https://www.nidus-corp.com/bass.html

I used a bag of rice to measure myself. I learned that my sit bones are wider than most saddles and this explains why many saddles caused me pain. I eventually found an inexpensive saddle that proved to be very comfortable for me, the Velo 3147

https://www.velosaddles.com/en/brands...ined-3147.html

Good luck.

P.S. Another useful link explaining saddle fit:

Jhawk, If the saddle on the mountain bike is okay for you, try it on the touring bike. This will give a hint.

The person whom I bought the bike from took her Brooks saddle with her. I've had to put my saddle on it for now. The MTB saddle worked for me on my mountain bike, but doesn't work so well on the touring bike - it slopes down for some reason?

Anyway, thanks for the link bwgride, I'll measure my sit bones ASAP.

Brook saddles are pretty popular in Canada and easy to track down. Or just order one from Ebay.

Congrats on your new bike! Have plenty of pleasant miles with it!

Maybe you should try adjusting the tilt of the saddle? If your MTB's seat tube has a different angle to the ground than your tourer's seat tube while you're still using the same tilt adjustment on your saddle, it's only logical that you experience a different slope of the saddle. Other factors, such as frame size, bottom bracket height, crank arm length, etc. can also come in play and force you to make adjustments in order to be more comfortable.

<- That is me pedalling on! Though without the ginger hair.

Bit anxious, as I'm currently looking around for a trunk bag and a frame bag and then I'll be good to go. I'm also looking to get some cycling shorts. Do you all recommend cycling shorts? Or would I be better off with some summer-type cargo's?

I was thinking about looking for some cycling cargo shorts that double as long-pants (zip-offs), good idea, bad idea?

I've found some really nice clothing from MEC, but it was on sale in the Men's clothing section... And... *sigh*, I take a Youth's 16, and there's nothing there apart from a couple of things that I like the look of. I know, being vertically-challenged sucks.
