Early Planning

In a few years, my fiancee (wife by then) and I are planning to ride across the US. We're looking a taking the Adventure Cycling Lewis & Clark trail out of Seaside OR to Council Bluffs/Omaha(home), then picking up the Northern Tier route in Muscatine IA, after crossing IA from home. The link at the bottom shows a rough idea of the route plan. Any comment/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

I love University Map Libraries.. they're part of the Geography department's resources.

from the western end of this plan Highway 26 heads east just south of Seaside. a more direct route to Portland.

though if you do travel north as you pass through Astoria, Wave Hi.

just North of Seaside is the turn onto Louis and Clark Road,

you avoid the Same as everywhere else Big Box store Part of Warrenton, on US 101
and end up on the eastern end of the bridge from there..

OR you could also take 202 south and take the back road thru Vernonia and take the road towards Banks ,
and pickup 26 there.
Or cross north towards Clatskanie on the Columbia river shore and 30.

LBS in Astoria Gets Bikes shipped ahead by Touring Cyclists, Often
Bus connections will also take the bike from PDX airport to Clatsop county.
probably better if left in the Box ...
