I've always wanted a flat bar touring rig...
...and now I finally have one. This is sort of a start. I used to have an Xtracycle attached to the back of this but it just didn't work for me. Now I've turned it into this and I think that it will make a good commuter and that I could probably even put some bags on it and use it as a touring rig. This is an early 90s Trek 930 frame and fork.

I did light touring on a 1996 Trek hybrid (Antelope?--I can't remember) with flat bars all over Okinawa Japan. I even kept up with a racing pace group on one of my short tours. However, I seem to be a lot pickier these days when it comes to hand positions. I suspect that having options is killing my ruggedness and cycleing wherewithal. Little did I know, at the time I had short-lived access to some delightful Japanese touring and rinko bikes. At any rate, flat bars are nothing to sneeze at.
