Hi there,

I currently tour on an old Sekine. Its my project bike, I love it, but I'm looking to upgrade the fork.

The current fork does not have pannier bosses on the fork blades. The goal is to get a fork that does so my front panniers can ride lower.

My current fork is 1" diameter with 175mm steerer.

Does anyone know where I can get a touring fork that will fit this older setup? Any fork builders that can do the job for a reasonable price?

Measure your current fork for the Axle to crown dimension and also the fork rake. You'll want to find a fork that is as close as possible to what you have now otherwise the ride and handling will be different.

boy, havent seen the Sekine name for a long long time. As a teenager in the late 70s a friend had a Sekine, very light and so much faster than my bike.

others will be able to link the hardware kit for you, but there are really good clamps made for front racks to go onto forks without the bolt holes. Apparently they work very well, but I guess the thing here is how this bike will be with weight on the front (and the back for that matter). If it is a very short wheelbase racer type bike, it may not be really suitable for putting panniers on anyway.

and gearing, and heel strike and derailleurs limiting cassette size etc. Maybe a bunch of stuff that would be a lot of money to change and not worth it in the end.

Old man mountain racks make some that fit in the quick release skewers, start there.

& there are other work arounds to mount many racks that use the dropout eyelet for the rack base support & a Hoop.

P clamps , a machined clamp that Tubus makes Is deluxe. Blackburn's U bolt clamp works great If You assemble it properly..
