No, and nothing.

I find the fabric in duct tape makes it too intractable for any decent repairs to the bike. I have used it to spot repair holes in tent floors, but I've not bothered to carry it with me.

I have had more success with electrical tape in doing stuff on the bike. I sometimes wrap it around the seatpost 10 or 15 times, to mark the height of the seat post should I need to remove it for packing, as well as for any repairs I might use it for.

I carry .8 ounces rolled up on itself like TS's picture above. I've used it many times on bike and camping. I also carry zip-ties which I've used less and would be more willing to forgo, but at .2 ounces still do carry.

We do not carry any but found a good use for it in Wyoming. We were having trouble keeping our food and water cool so we bought a cheap foam sleeping pad and fabricated an insulated front pannier. Of course we used duct tape to hold it together. That was 7 years ago and it is still going strong

We did the same thing when I got new panniers.

I keep a couple of feet wrapped around my tire gauge. Although mainly for sidewall punctures, it is useful to have a bit around for all sorts of things.

I carry filament tape, because it takes up virtually no space and can actually hold stuff like tire casings together. Duct tape I don't use much, and there is a dollar store every few miles.

FYI, a "tire boot" is a patch that will close up a puncture or tear in a tire (not a tube) to keep the tube from pushing its way out. I've had success using a dollar bill for this purpose. I'm not sure if a five or a ten would work better.

I used to carry duct tape, but I found that by the time I'd get around to using it (maybe every five years?), the stickiness had deteriorated to the point that it wasn't much good for anything. If you DO decide to take some with you, be sure to replace it every once in a while.

That said, you can use it to temporarily secure a broken spoke so it doesn't get caught in your chain and really screw you up. But you can do that with zip ties and lots of other things, too.

PS: GREAT! Now the side of my screen is jammed with ads for duct tape!

We don't have dollar bills here in Australia. A five is the lowest bill denomination.

A foil granola bar wrapper can work as well ... at least for a few km to get you somewhere where there might be tires.
