I picked up some Specialized adjustable stems:

    130mm/17deg
    140mm/12deg

With shims that adjust them +/- 2 degrees and +/- 4 degrees.

Both where $40 each. This is a GREAT price.

Oddly, I was able to use paint remover to remove the logos from one stem, but not the other. They are of different generations and I guess they used different paints.

I made a highest bid with 15 seconds to go on a 1980s Raleigh track frame (for road TT use) however I did not win because I did not meet the reserve price. What is the point of having a reserve price if it is invisible to bidders? When I sell I list a starting bid.

a bike with araya gold rims. I already have a wheelset but love the look of the arayas. I ride my bike on the track and on streets. How terrible will it be to run them on the streets? (I weigh about 135 lbs)

Ive got an Araya Red rear wheel built up and a spare rim in the shed, it needs truing almost every other ride - but I'm 90kg and the roads I ride on are rubbish. They're very nice to ride, but my one is super soft and not really surprising for such a light rim. TBH I can't be arsed using it on the street any more, that wheel is just sitting in the pile of spare wheels I somehow have.
With good tension I would have no hesitation riding them on the track, especially the rear where the dish is symmetrical (or much closer to symmetrical that a road hub) for road I'd be wary but YMMV.

(ps I' haven't bought anything track related recently I'm just living vicariously through you guys)

I never ride my track tires on the street - too worried about getting damage that might show up while riding the track.

2004 Orbea Pista, 48T FSA chainring, Vredstein Fortezza Tricomp tires, handlebar tape, lockring remover, pedal wrench, and Jenga. But that's not for my bike. Obviously. The "protips for new track racers" thread has been incredibly insightful. Big shoutout to Carleton and Jaytron for being major players in that thread.

I thought Sphinx were only acquired as OEM bars and then sold off.

You might want to look into getting a shorter stem to go with those bars if you're going to be doing UCI sanctioned races. They also have a reputation as being quite flexy.

    +1

They are only good for one thing really...that solo, off-the-front breakaway to lap the field. Other than that, they are a downgrade from normal narrow road or sprint bars.
