Looks ancient. It also looks like it might be made of wood.

I couldn't tell you and I've seen a lot of wheels in my day.

Yeah. I'm drawing a blank, too. That valve cutout is throwing me off. Every 4-spoke I've seen has the valve coming out between spokes.

Maybe it's a prototype?

same here - I've even dug around for a while through old photos and can't place it.
Not a production wheel I've ever seen before.

I'm guessing a bespoke wheel, but by whom I can't say . As Taras said it looks like it would be made out of wood.

There's a Corima 4 spoke with that cutout IIRC, but this doesn't look like one. The owner says it's a very thin metal with some filler (foam?), no markings. Some say it might be Soviet/Russian from the '80s or 90's.

The metal with foam filler would make sense given the cross sectional profile of the wheel. It looks like it would be bi-directional, with both leading and trailing edges of the foil being blunt, almost square to the wind. If it were composite, even fiberglass, its shape would resemble a teardrop or an ellipse. Being metal, those 90 degree angles help to give it some structure along with the foam. Did you see any markings (weld/flash lines) that would indicate that it was made from two clamshell halves of sheet metal?

+1
Unique valve placement, for a 4 spoke.
Eastern European?

Hand made wheel - INGRIA

Maybe an older version. They're close.

Going by the hardware, could be an early version...?

Similar valve location and cutout shape on this 3 spoke?
