Butter
I'll post pics eventually, but I finally got my own dedicated track bike built up and don't have to use the rental anymore. It's a lovely old chrome Plum Vainqueur frame (Italian made, distributed out of a shop in Belgium) with Miche components, 48x15 gearing, and a set of loaner wheels with Miche hubs and tubular tires. I got to ride it on the track on both Friday and Saturday. For anyone who has hesitated about riding sew-ups:
Oh. My. God. Smooth as butter. Sweet as pie. I never want to ride clinchers again! Of course, just when I thought I was done spending money on bike stuff for awhile, I'm realizing that I'll need two wheelsets: everyday clinchers for training and nice tubulars for racing--which over time will keep the cost of replacing tubular tires down. |
better yet - get another set of tubulars. :)

You've gotta post pics man, I have a Plume as well, I'm intrigued to see what yours looks like. Mine is black and red but I think it was chrome originally because it's showing through under all the chips. Mine is #1985 on the FGG (http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2005...onnyBolton.htm).

And you're right about tubs, I'll never buy another clincher wheel again :)
