I am new to this forum and it seems there are a lot of knowledgable people; so my question is this, is anyone familiar with Yamaguchi track frames?, any comments. I have been looking at Spectrum, Richard Sachs, Vanilla, BT, Colnago, Nagasawa which are really sweet but a bit pricey, plus the wait in some cases a bit extreme. Some of the bikes I have looked at are works of art but not neccessarily practical. The Yamaguchi I had in mind would set me back about $1500.00 including the fork and custom geometry, no other components. I would spend $100-$300 more if it would get me something consiserably better:(. I would really apreciate any sound advice or insight. I also fully intend to do the rest of the bike up nicely so the frame and fork is my primary concern. I am less concerned with fancy paint schemes and elegantly designed lugs, I am after functionality, I want a keeper not an re-sellable investment Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.- I should add that I want to race this thing:) Thanx, xmoonstarx |
Some of the frames you mentioned are of course the long wait, pricey investments that you said you really didn't want - but ooooh that Vanilla! I've no knowledge of the others. But consider the Marinoni that we talked about below. He's been doing frames since about 1976 and I got my track bike from him in '78 after a whole TWO week wait - it was total custom too.
His frames are well built, custom sized and painted, Alu or steel and a good price. |
