pursuit bikes in the city?

could someone outline the advantages/disadvantages to having a pursuit bike in the city? i know of some things already, and the disadvantages are more numerous, but i'd like to know someone else's thoughts as well.

advantages are you look cool. disadventages are that your neck is going to hurt at the end of the day from bending it to look out into traffic. i'd suggest putting some big riser bars on there to improve your riding position.

yeah, a friend of mine has a khs pursuit and he put riser type bars on it. he was riding with drops for a while though. another thing to think about is that some pursuit bikes (like my friend's khs) have major toe-verlap, so remember that if you decide to make a sharp turn, otherwise you may end up on your face.

so true infestedguy, me my friend and his girlfriend all ride the khs pusuit or whatever they call them mine is steel theres are alum. there bikes being small have major overlap wich is kind of scary but hll of alot of fun (ride what makes u happy :)

ohh yeah dont let me forget ,sell me that khs pursuit steel 57 :)

My pursuit bike has about 1-2 inches of toe overlap, but I got used to it after like a month and now I don't even notice it. My back/shoulder hurts every now and then lately but I think that's more because an accident I had a month ago. I have long arms so I guess that might help. I love my pursuit bike, but I would really rather just get a normal track bike for the city. I used to have a khs pursuit (steel) but it was a 57 and I got maybe 1mm of toe overlap and it rode awesome... if I could get another one of those I would be in heaven!

This is mine but I have never ridden it just built up and taken down. Only photo ops. I have another named Alma Pura. It was made by my good friend Johnny(RIP) and will post pics of the bike. I ride that one.It has 700c front and rear. The Sannino is 650 front and 700 rear. 57 Center to top.

No I don't ride with my seat that high and stem so low with drop bars.

Not only the neck, but lower back can be a little achey after putting in a full day on that kinda frame.
While I don't exactly have that kinda frame, I have close enough to it and am lovin' that sh*t. It's a quick snappy ride.
There's no big problem with overlap, and I personally love hurtling along in that steep aero position.

my girlfriend has an old paramount pursuit bike and it's a blast, for a few minutes. the little kids in the hood with their bmxers and cruisers think they're fast. until they see how fast you can sprint on one of these things. you're back will ache like someone kicked you in the kidneys if you stay on for more than an hour. your neck has to crane way the hell up too. if you lose focus you're looking at the ground between the cranks. sometimes when you look up from looking at the ground too long... DEATH on the CITY STREETS.

enjoy.

I've got one of those KHS Aero Tracks and after looking at a few on FGG I set mine up w some cut down riser bars. I'm using it for the around town ride. It does have pretty major toe overlap. I dig the bike.

(its FGG 2546 as listed below)
