Anyone here ride at Alkek Velodrome Houston, TX?

I'll be coming back to houston for a couple weeks in March and was wondering what Alkek was like. I won't be bringing a bike so I'll be renting one, that is if the track is even open. Is it? Whats the schedule like? I'm new to riding track so I'm wondering if there are any classes, or when open riding is permitted. Their website doesnt work for me for some reason so I thought I'd see if anyone here had any info. Thanks.

I've never been to Alkek, but the site appears to be working for me. Looks like they will open up on March 1st.

The Alkek Velodrome is open to the public for recreational riding.

    Schedule:

    March 1 - May 30
    Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
    Saturday - 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

    June 1 - August 31
    Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

    September 1 - November 9
    Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
    Saturday - 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

An attendant is always on duty to help you get started. Attendants have standard workout programs for you to use during the public riding session.

Track bikes are required to ride on the Alkek Velodrome. The track has a stable of 40 track bikes in all sizes for rent.

it's a great track. steep, high walls and fast.
i'm back in houston nursing a broken leg/foot
and am just itching to be able to ride it again
for the first time in like six years. last i remember,
everyone out there was friendly and helpful. not much
attitude. i have no idea about the bikes in the stable,
    but i'm sure they're sufficient.

i plan on going to the friday night series just to hang and watch.
if you see the guy with a busted ass leg sitting quietly with a single tear
running down his cheek, say hi. or something.
