Racing at T-Town

I'm racing in T-town in mid april and I am wondering about what gearing i should run for the track. I currently run a 49-13 in the "track" races we do down here in Richmond, VA. Anyone with advice about the track would be greatly appreciated.

49x13 is big for most (any?) track racing. Suggestions would have to depend on your ability and racing category.

Im currently a Cat 5. I have good legs and can push over a big gear, which is beneficial since I mainly do sprints and such. I am doing two point races and an unknown distance which should be around 8 laps (2.75 K). I hear 49x 15 isnt bad for that type of race and on that course due to some of the constant acceleration.

49x15 or maybe 50x15 would be two good choices for you to start with. Get some practice beforehand riding at 100-120 rpm's. Rolling terrain in one gear is good practice for the variability in cadence that you'll see in your races.
