Woo hoo newbie day at Hellyer tomorrow!

Will be my first time riding fixed where it's meant to be ridden. Anyone done the newbie training session at Hellyer on Sat mornings? Is it cool? How early should I arrive to rent a 56? Thanks all!

yes, very cool..really low key..depending on the instructor.

very different groups attend, you never know if you will be next to a stud roadie who has never ridden the track, or a messenger who has ridden fixie in SF for years...

John Simmons is running the class tomorrow. A pretty intense guy about safety, but definately a good instructor.

Yeah that was dope. Kinda broke out in a cold sweat a couple times on the first few laps - got stuck behind a real squirelly woman who kept looking over her shoulder and veering around - but other than that was real cool. Jon is super nice, weather was great - cool sport.

Myself and some other Toronto guys just did newbie day at the Forest City Velodrome. It was one of the best times I've had in my life on a bicycle. We're all chomping at the bit waiting to head back there now.
