Basic question-what are rules of the road?

I've only ridden individual pursuit and team pursuit, so my track experience is very limited. I'm going to go to Brian Piccollo park this week for open practice for the first time.

So what are the basic rules, like how to get on and off the track, where to ride on the track, how to pass, etc. And most important, what NOT to do. Any advice appreciated.

You should be taking their "learn to ride" session(s) and there you will be taught their rules - which differ from track to track. The FCV track rules that you were pointed to - many of them we designed to reflect the extreme shortness and steepness of that track. Those issues might not be a factor in a bigger, shallower track.

In fact they would be smart if they didn't let you onto the track unless you had taken their intro sessions.
