What's an OK / competitive time for the kilometer for a 50 year old male?
A quick search showed times around 1:15, but I don't have enough info to know how competitive that is.
Many thanks.

Here are the results from the Mid-Atlantic track championships. https://members.cox.net/czapmk/2007%2...%206-10-07.pdf
Unfortunately the 50+ did a 500m instead of a 1k. Times were all in the 40's.
40+ did however do the 1k. Times ranged from 1:14 to 1:24. I'm 25 and did a 1:21 if that means anything.

In my limited experience, a 1:15 is a very respectable time at a sea-level track, and is probably a really good time for a 50 year old, if not super-quick. I suck at the kilo, and did a 1:15 at 6300ft. I think the lowest time of the day was a 1:03, so I do have room to improve, but I'm a Pursuit guy.

Last April Gordo Singleton did a 1.12 at FCV during the Ontario championships. I bet you closer to the end of the year he would have gone faster.

and he's former world champion. 1:15 is more than respectable for 50 years old.
