Shimano Dura-Ace 7600 vs. 7710

Anyone here have tried both the square taper 7600 cranks/BB and the Octalink 7710 model? Any perceivable differences?

Hmm, maybe no one has had both. I have 7600's and they seem great, but I'm no monster either, only about 170 pounds. I like the old style, and the octalink BB's seem to have a lot of stiction in the seals, and I've had some had some questionable mileage issues with my road octalinks (they died an early death). I've got a Sugino 75 BB and expect it to outlast me. 7600 seems to be the choice for Japanese Keirin, if that means anything to you.

my 7600's are coming in the mail soon, and i've been running some shoddy square tap bmx cranks since i started riding, will post when i've done some miles on the new DA's for a sq tap analysis.

I've got 7600's, find them comparable to Sugino 75 cranks. Truvativ Omniums are hands down a burlier, stiffer crank though. I just feel funny riding Omniums on anything not aluminum/carbon so 7600's go on the trainer/commuter track bike and Omniums on the race. I did race 7600's last season though and they were fine for my cat 4/5 ass.
