Need help with track bike fit

I have a really good road bike fit, now I want to get a good track bike fit.

My goal is to have a good seat position that gives me the most power in the saddle.

Is there a formula to extrapolate how to modify a good road bike fit into a track bike fit?

Help!

I just went through this, asking the same questions on another forum. I think in the past there may have more of a traditional difference between a road fit and a track fit, but the advice I got was: If you've got good fit on the roadbike, try to duplicate this position on your trackbike. I think if you plan on specializing in either pursuit or sprints you may eventually want to alter your position, but for getting started, go with what you know works.

I think I replied on that other forum with pretty much what you said...

I don't know that road and track bike fit was ever that different-- the geometries vary (or not, depending on the kind of riding you do...) but for the most part people seem to set up the relative positions of their points of contact on the bike pretty much the same on road and track.

There will be some relatively small differences for sprinters, and some bigger ones for riding pursuits, but for a new rider trying to figure out where to start: copy your road bike fit and tweak from there as you get some experience.

Thanks.

I have ridden the track plenty, but I just got a new bike mainly due to the fact that my old bike was too big for me. (I never really had a good fit on it).

This new bike (leader 720tr) is a bit on the small side but still. I set it up and did a test ride at the velo and it "seemed" ok, but I have not actually done any racing with it yet.

I don't think providing any rule-of-thumb type insight is going to be helpful in this situation. Seeing a picture of you riding the bike in trackracing position could be helpful, but it's only the internet. an in-persn fitting with an experienced fitter is how these questions get answered.
