Dear Carleton,
This may be a stupid question.
My BB feels like it's popping/grinding during the pedal stroke. Does this mean "replace immediately" or "replace soon"?

If it's serviceable, then service it. Service it good.
If not, I'd replace it as soon a reasonable. Somewhere between go to the shop first thing in the morning and order parts that will be delivered in 2-3 weeks.

I'll probably take it to a shop sometime this week then.

Dear Carleton, between the two trainers you mentioned on the previous page and as quoted above, which one would you personally buy? And would you support the idea of buying the TACX if you already owned the kinetic machine road machine or would that be a redundant purchase on my part?

It's summertime. Everyone is out riding. Most trainers are gathering dust. Maybe you can borrow one since it's only 2 months and you have extenuating circumstances. I would try that route. Maybe you have a circle of friends that you ride with or participate in a local message board?

They work in slightly different ways, the Kurt being fluid and the TACX being magnetic. I've owned both, but not at the same time. I have just the Kurt now. But, if I got the TACX really cheap (used or through some hookup) I'd get it as well. The Kurt is for "real world conditions" training being that the resistance curve is exponential (increase speed to increase resistance). The TACX would be good for other types of training (over or under-gear training) being that the resistance curve is linear (dial up resistance switch for more resistance).
Another question on the somewhat related topic, have you ever had any experience with the kinetic training tire by kenda Carleton? If so, would you recommend it over a conti ultra hometrainer tire; which I'm currently using in conjunction with a trainer wheel/ the kinetic trainer?

Do mockingbirds exist for any reason other than to sit outside my window and wake me up at 5 am every morning?

General rule of thumb: If you need cheap mountain bike tires, buy Kenda. If you need cheap road tires, buy Cheng Shin (CST.) Since you're just going to need something on the wheel, I'd get something like a CST Czar. Even if they don't last as long, you can buy four of them for the price of the Conti.

When was the last time you shipped a set of bullhorns and a crankset via Priority Mail? The size of the box and weight are both factors in determining shipping cost.
This was talked about in the Retrogression thread (in the marketplace). When people order things online, it's never taken into consideration that boxes, packing material and shipping supplies cost a company money. Also, the person whose job it is to package orders and bring them to the post office doesn't work for free.
Our prices are low enough where this really shouldn't be an issue.

seriously man. Retrogression is selling stuff at REALLY good prices. My LBS was going to try and charge me $96 for RB-002s...let me spell that out for you - Ninety-Six dollars. LBS, so NO SHIPPING! Even if you get the black RB-002 from Mr. Zilla @ what, $68 + $10 shipping. You're still making out like a shill.
