Keep in mind that a shorted spindle will also change your chainline.

I want to, just not in road racing. I have done some training on the track and I enjoyed it. I think I could kill it on the longer solo events - at least thats what happened at the training nights. i only haz fixie converzionz

Still new, don't quite understand the whole chainline concept. How bad would that change be?

Well, now is the time to start. You will get the most benefit because you will have the full winter and spring to train.

It starts with a conscious decision to do it. Once you decide to do something, the rest is just details.

It wouldn't necessarily be "bad" but if you're buying a BB anyway, why not just get the right length spindle for your crank and avoid chainline issues altogether?

Yea I guess that makes sense. So is it better to get square taper, or is the ISIS type better?

This is purely an FYI but Truvativ PowerSpline is slightly different than ISIS and the two are not interchangeable.

Some people hate PowerSpline. As a mechanic I think it's a good, reliable interface with less room for user error than square taper (the amount of damaged square taper crank arms I see come through the shop is astounding). Get whichever crankset you like better and check/tighten your crank arm bolts regularly.

Ok because, I feel like I say it a lot, but since I ride BMX, I'm used to splined spindles, just feel like it has a more positive engagement and overall solid feel to it. So would that s100 set be alright? I mean, really, this is just my commuter/fitness/all-around bike. Sees a lot.

Yeah, they will be fine. Those S100s are pretty much the same crank as the Truvativ Touros that come stock on Kilo TTs and I used mine for nearly two years without any issues. For the money, it's a good crankset.

Ok Scrod, I'm still not done I guess. Just to replace the BB/spindle, trying to fix the root of the problems, would This one work? They have it in 107 too.

That's a pretty good idea (maybe). Carleton's thread has been a pretty good success and I don't want to keep posting here while he's trying to answer specific questions.

Thanks for the info. We do not really have track focused stores here, mostly just road or hipster fixie focused. Will ask around and see if I can get some ordered for myself.

I got 2nd in Sprints and 3nd in the Kilo at the state championships. In the region, I also placed 2nd in sprints and 3rd in the region in the Kilo.

The sprints were awarded based on the flying 200M time. There wasn't enough time to run the tournament. I qualified 2nd and really wanted a shot to sprint for first. I really think I had a good chance to win.

In track racing, aerodynamics are very, very important. More so than in road racing. Skin-tight skinsuits are very aerodynamic but are impractical for road racing for a variety of reasons, BUT Castelli recently started making a 2-piece skinsuit with pockets for one pro team. I can't recall which one.

Long-sleeve skinsuits have tested to be faster than short sleeved ones.
