If either of these is the case I intend to stock up on Tums and tell biology to go **** itself for the rest of my life. You can't take my bread and beer away.

smoke tree and it won't be a bother, THC slows down digestion and allows your stomach to properly digest things that would otherwise give you trouble, taking tums regularly'll give you kidney stones and eventually renal failure(your kidneys shut down and you die after your body poisons itself), you don't want that

Dear Carleton,

For my Leader 721 build should I buy a relatively cheap crankset (Pake, lower end Sugino) and then splurge on other parts? Or should I buy a nice crankset (SRAM Omnium, etc.) and then scimp on other, less important parts? Any other advice about building a bike up would be greatly appreciated.

Spend the extra dough on the drive train. It's more of an investment. They can go on your next build, too. If you aren't in a hurry, save for a few more weeks and buy quality so you won't have the itch to replace later. I'm VERY familiar with this itch.

I agree. Can you spare me some advice on wheels? Does the same rule apply?

Have you ever given away a bike that you owned?

Basic Formula + Velocity/DP/Alex FG wheels are fine. You don't need custom hand-built...unless that gets you excited.

Yes. I've given away lots of wheels, frames, bars, etc... and even complete bikes.

Sherblock 06-20-11 07:43 PM

Good. I've had an eye on your Tiemeyer.

Thanks for the advice Carleton. I'm not going to start my build until the late fall/winter and I can't wait!

calv 06-21-11 01:47 PM

On the ProdigalChild website, I looked around and kind of deduced that my general frame size is 53, with a 55cm top tube. I looked at the Kilo TT's ( I ride a 50cm) top tube length and its short. I currently have a 90mm Nitto stem on it.

My Question:
If your ideal stem length would be 106.93mm, would it come down to personal preference on choosing a 100 or 110mm stem? I figure since I'm closer to 110 it would be better buttt I'm not completely sure.

stovb 06-21-11 07:00 PM

dear carleton, would you mind prioritizing what you think should be upgraded on a bike first?

Scrodzilla 06-21-11 07:09 PM

I just saw the post where you asked me to close this thread. Does that still stand?

Upgrade the things that your body touches first. Comfort is king:
- Proper bike fit (even a basic eyeball fit by a guy at the shop is better than nothing)
- Grip Tape
- Saddle
- Handlebar shape/width to fit your body and riding style
- Shoes/Pedals

Then:
- Tires

Then:
- Things that break or are unreliable or flexy

First, boxers or briefs. Second, good idea to get back together with an ex or not?

Boxers. Ask any girl and she will say boxers.

If you flipped a coin. Heads: Get back with her. Tails: Walk away. While the coin is spinning in the air, which side do you secretly wish it would land on?

Dear Carleton,

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

pay attention, he has already responded to that question...

renton20 06-22-11 01:25 PM

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its face and the egg is frowning and looking a bit pissed off. The egg mutters, to no-one in particular, "Well, I guess we answered THAT question!"
