Dear Carleton,

Should I buy the FTP from Nashbar? I live in the downtown core and the bike would never see a track most likely.

Thanks

P.S. I am 6 feet tall. Should I purchase 58cm or 60cm?

Invite your closest friends out for your birthday dinner. You pay the tab for everyone. You become "The Man" for at least a year.

- No.
- If you do, definitely don't get 60. You may be a 57/58cm depending on your ratio of torso to height.

Could you elaborate, or suggest an alternative?

The FTP uses non-standard:
- Seat post: Now a seat mast that once you cut it, it won't grow back if you need it to.
- Seat post clamp: The one-bolt system that may tilt the saddle nose down if you hit a bump (depending on rider weight)
- Seat post collar: This doesn't exist on a normal bike. However this slips down for many people when they hit a bump.

All of those "cool" changes were made in an effort to make the bike more aero. You probably don't care about being ever-so-slightly more aero...so why deal with the issues that arise from it?

Get a bike that uses a normal seatpost system and save yourself some headache.

Suggesting a frame for you sort of blindly would do you a disservice. When I got my Tiemeyer it took me at least a month of research to settle on that bike.

Dear Carleton,

Are you still in Baltimore, and have you ridden up Federal Hill? That was interesting just to walk up in my time there.

Flatwounds. On everything. Everytime. Even on my Les Paul...

Dear Carleton,
While trying to refill my blinker fluid, I dumped a bunch of propwash all over the bumper bearings.
Do you have a resolution for this?

Pffft. I wish I were on that diet for the past 6 months. I'm eating quinoa and tuna right now as I type.

Pretty quick, easy, healthy, and cheap. Just prepare the quinoa, drain it, then add it to a frying pan with the tuna (also drained). Season to taste and occasionally stir till the tuna heats up. Good stuff!
