Japanese Velodromes Information

Information of Japanese Velodromes
There are two kinds of velodromes for amature race and for Keirin
race(Municipally operated races) in Japan

There is velodromes of 70 ground in Japan
As for the velodromes inside for amature, there is 23 ground
The rest of 47 scene is velodromes for a municipally operated race

I don't understand the building year of all velodrome
I examined the location and a lap length

There's a guy named kesa101 who posted a thread in the road forum about visiting the velodrome in Fukuoka. He'd probably be able to help you.

I know this is a long shot, but... does anyone know anything about the amateur races at the Kansai Cycle Sports Center? There's only ONE road bike race per year in Osaka (way to promote the sport in your hometown, Shimano

). I'd like to race more often, and I'd like to get a track bike. If there were races even just once a month, I could justify getting a track bike.

I had a look at their website yesterday with my friend who speaks and reads perfect Japanese, and we couldn't find any useful information.

hi,

i train on the fukuoka kurume keirin track once a week, and `race` (not real racing, kind of a club event, 200m - 3km TTs) there once a month. i`ve been really lucky too, i`ve met a few of the keirin pros and some up-and-comers, it`s a pretty close-knit community but they`re all fairly friendly.

there are also two keirin framebuilders in the town too, Giro and Baromon, i was in their shops last week drooling - definitely my next purchase!

btw, did you know that keirin is closed to foreigners? only holders of japanese passports can enter - and if you have tattoos, also a no-no. i`m too old to even consider it, but if i was younger i`d be pretty p***ed off about that...

The qualification of Japanese professional Keirin rider opened the nationality and the age for several years.

Japanese Keirin school test
1000m time trial > under 1min.11sec. (49t x15t)
200n flying dash > under 11sec.(49t x15t)

You should understand Japanese.
Any tattoo is not permitted.

The foreigner has not become Keirin rider before.

hi　T, well, as far as i heard, you have to be a japanese national - that`s what the pros told me...

are you sure about that? if so it sounds very interesting!

i`m getting close to 1min 11sec on my road bike - 1min 14 sec last week - i get my track bike next week, hope to get under 1min10.

but, i`m 36, probably time to grow up! but having said that, some of those keirin guys are pretty rich!
