a friend of mine took this David-v-Goliath picture a few weeks ago during a points race. I'm the David. And, unfortunately, Goliath won by reeling in my late attack with 10m to go.

wow, so tell us, is track cycling is quite a bit more 'urban' and 'hardcore' down there than in say, Seattle?

I have never raced in Seattle. I do know some Seattle racers who are very hardcore. We do worry about our hair, how we look and what bike we ride.

Dalai, I'm no expert on the subtleties of the aero position, but you're looking good. Distance and results? Also, that track looks strikingly similar to VSC here in Los Angeles.

Head still too high, but already using an adjustable stem pointing down and no more spacers... Might have to look at another set of bars and then do some field test.

IP is 3000m as I am still MMAS3. I was off in the last pair - fastest times posted on the score board so far were 3:44 and 3:47. I was rolling comfortably around with the intent of saving myself for the final and to just make sure I was under 3:47; did this riding 3:45.

Found out a little while later that a previous rider was made to ride an extra lap due to a mistake by the lap counter and had actually ridden 3:38! So I was now in the Bronze ride off! Comfortably won the bronze with a 3:43 which was 2 seconds faster than Silvers ride in the final...

Now just on two weeks before the Masters Nationals.

Wow, that's smoking. Are your kilometers shorter down under?!? Sarah Hammer did a 3k at one of our TT events in November and did 3:41. I'd say you're in good company. Good luck at Nationals!

Double wow. Last year, the 45-49 masters US champion did the 3K in 2:41.5 outdoors at Indy.

Vance, I think we need to move to AU. The air must be thinner with the same amount of O2 plus their water swirls in the opposite direct of ours when if forms a vortex in the sink. I think that may help as well.

Not technigally "on" the track. I'm just pumped to be standing by it. Still under construction, the 250 track in Erie, Colorado is expected to be ridable within months.

Sad reality I am expecting to be nowhere near the pointy end of the field with that time. I'm thinking a time much closer to 3:35 will be needed to win!

Goal still is to get into the 30's at some time - PB is 3:41 from a few years ago. Will need to do specific IP training over the next 12 months...

Nice. Think this flooded / blew over when I was in CO last September?

a 30m section of it blew over in some crazy storm. since they hadn't finished construction, it was still kind of weak. looks like they've recovered well.
