3T Sphinx & UCI

Does anyone know where UCI ( USAC, CCA, etc ) measures bars from? I've seen it mentioned by 3T that it's "point of contacts for the hands", which implies only the round bits before the little aero profiled bit. I'm going to need a new stem either way but if they're measuring from the tip of the bars I think i'm going to need a -20mm stem and that just doesn't exist ( though I guess I could mount the stem backwards )

I definitely would not mount a stem backwards, especially on the track where handling is everything.

They are measured at the 162mm line.

This article goes in to further detail, regarding your same issue:

I guess sarcasm is hard to convey. I was joking.

I guess, haha. I edited my post while you were replying I guess. Lots of info above.

If your current bars are legal, it looks like a 50mm or so shorter stem would solve the problem for the sphinxes.

If I remember seeing you right, you had a decently long stem on anyways.
