Kurt Kinetic Road Machine

Hey guys,

Just had a question on this particular trainer that I named in the subject. I am an avid cyclist, and usually train on the velodrome with Phil Wood track hubs laced to Reynolds rims. I am currently on a Felt TK1 Sprint. I am wondering as to why my bike creaks when I am on the trainer. I am not a heavy guy, and the bike seems to go on properly, but when I pedal it creaks and if I move to one side of the trainer the creaking stops, I have checked to make sure I had no cracks, and I don't.

Anyone have any experience with this machine.

What adapter fits the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine.

Also, what size are the hub bolts on Phil's, I do know that they are not 15mm. Something smaller, anyone know?

Thanks a lot!

The hub bolts on Phil Wood track hubs are 6 mm allen key. And they are pretty small to fit properly into the ends of a Kurt Kinetic trainer. I ordered a pair of the "chrome domes" made for BMX. These are conical caps that the allen bolt fits all the way inside. They are polished stainless steel and not cheap, but they make for a bigger nut that works really well with the Kurt and other trainers. Not too many alternatives there.

For hubs with traditional track nuts, Tacx makes some track nuts with a cylindrical extension that fits trainers magnificently. Absolutely get a pair if you're working out on any hubs with regular track nuts. I have the Shimano-threaded ones but I believe they make Campy threaded ones as well for the Luddites among you.
