Thats really awesome. You are lucky to have something like that near you. I especially like the old pict too. Is there an indoor velodrome in nyc? I turned the tube on the other nite and there was an old movie with Walter Matthau in it where he was betting on races and it had a really cool but quick sceen of a wooden track veledrome and it seemed to be in nyc.

madison square garden used to house a wooden velodrome i believe a long time ago. there was talk (probably won't happen) of having lance do the hour record on a track build inside of there. if that is the case, i'm getting tickets! as far as a current indoor track, i don't think there is one. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, MSG used to have a drome. The track relay "Madison" is named after it.

Coney Island too, I believe. I had a client who told me his father used to race in the Coney Island wooden velodrome. Brought in some pics and some crazy stories of alleycats back in the day. Although they weren't called alleycats back then.

In the late 60's when I was a kid about 13- 14 yrs old, I use to take a bike ride from my home in Bayside Queens to the Kissena track, not knowing what it was or the history behind it. Now 30 years later I live in CA and ride the encino velodrome.

    Brings back memories!

No indoor track. It was Madison Sq Garden ,if we are talking about the same movie. We had tracks at 225 st uptown mahattan, Coney Island, MSG, and about 5 others. Only one left is Kissena. It was good looking at the Vanderdrome at the 1998 Good Will games track races held at Staten Island.
