Giant Omnium firsthand?

Anyone have any first hand experience with these?

I need to go from a 58 to a 56 and on paper the omnium looks great. Long dropouts, strong looking rear triangle and I'm real excited about the 1 1/4 headset. Feel like probably a reasonable upgrade from the TK3 I'm using now.

Horror stories or should I pull the trigger?

Sorry, no first hand experience but I know a few guys that have them and like them a lot. Originally I wanted to get an Omnium but it was a bit more than I (my wife) wanted to spend starting out. So I went with the TK3. Let us know how it works out.

I'm in the market for a new (first) real track frame and have looked at the Omnium, but you're right, there is little information on the net about them. What little I found seemed quite positive though. Definately post back if you find some information.

Just to add another $.02 to the mix. One of the guys (Gary Moore http://riderockhill.com/blog/ride-ro...ws-gary-moore/) at the local track races Masters Nationals on an Omnium. I know what works from some doesn't necessarily work for others, but it doesn't hurt to have a good rider on one.

The omnium is one of the prefered bikes here at Penrose. Some of our top racers love it. And any one knows a bike that can stand up to Mr Bumpyface will ride any track.
