new guy
Just want to introduce myself, I first saw a velodrome in 1996 and swore to myself that one day I would do that, well this is the season. I have been racing bicycles in many different ways since 1983 BMX, downhill mountain, road, time trials, crits, I am currently a cat 4. I have purchaced a Superb Sprint frame and had it built up, can't wait for the spring clinic to start learning.

I grew up near Encino velodrome and wanted to ride but never made an effort when I lived in the area. I raced BMX or DH for more than thirty years and ride road now.
My wife has offered to "facilitate" an introductory track class at Trexlertown for B-day 55 in a couple of weeks.
They have loaner bikes but I may try to get something built up.
Should I ride the same top tube length as on the road? 'same basic set up with bars up level with saddle? (I ride a regular road bike with 125mm handlebar drop)
Thanks..

My road bike has a much larger saddle to bar length (horizontal) and a smaller saddle/drop than my track bike. I've been told by many to get a proper fit as I look cramped and uncomfortable, but it feels comfortable and my power output isn't compromised (no PM, but I am seeing results each week!).
Also, frame sizes - Road bike is a 54cm whilst the track bike is just shorter than 52cm.
So my frame sizes and fit a different between the disciplines, but fit is very personal and I know a couple of people who ride the same measurements as their road bikes on the track. (I may provide actual measurements later tonight with an edit, could show how dramatic my changes are.)

Ya, I am that guy. Thanks for the compliment. I love making track frames though I don't do that many right now. My order book is pretty stacked right now but things always get lean around the end of the year. I do have a couple of aero section tubes so may be I should go ahead and make myself a bike!! ( I think my wife would kill me if I bought another set of good wheels this year though)
