Bern bike helmets?

I've seen a few higher level trackies donning Bern helmets... is there some reasoning behind this or is it just because it's the troll-y thing to do because they look silly?

Vents are bad.Though UCI illegal, that's why so many riders tape the vents on their aero helmets!

The vents thing, and the shells are thicker than your typical helmet. This would spread the impact of a crash over a larger area. Some Bern models also use a different foam that can stand up to multiple impacts.
