    Help Identifying Disc Wheel?

    Hey everyone,

So long story short, I picked up a pursuit bike off CL recently and the seller threw in this disc wheel and I'm having a hard time identifying it as it intrigues me. Older tubular disc, alloy brake track with what appears to be plywood (?) outer with corrugated cardboard in between or similar material connecting to an alloy flange around the hub. Hub is threaded for a freewheel, but has a spacer that allows a track cog to be run. Since I'm newer to disc wheels I'm curious as to what the history/story about the wheel is but my searches are coming up dry, anyone have some insight?

    I don't think it's Zipp. Maybe HED?

It looks to be at least 20 years old. Use with caution. Maybe have it inspected by someone at a good bike shop.

Doubt it is a HED disc. None I've seen have such a large visible hub plus the inflation hole was always a long slot and not a circle...

Looks a little more like a Renn disc but still the valve hole shape isn't quite right.

Could be an old Matrix disc? Best photo I could find...

Definitely not Hed or Mavic, they were always hollow. Zipp had always used a foam core. The fact that it looks like an old disc (due to the super huge flange that was used almost universally on them 20+ years ago), it seems to be of relatively good quality for the time because of the use of unidirectional CF.
Taras - :noun. 1. Typically an overweight has-been that can sometimes be seen pootling around a velodrome on an old Look KG 233.
