No you lose because they are not irrefutable enough. I am going to keep posting here because I know you want the last word and I won't allow it. You're just like my wife!

Not knowing the finer details of CF - how do you know the woman was doing repeated lifts to exhaustion? I only see her failing the one lift repeatedly...

This gif is from a clip taken at a "crossfit games" type of competition.

As Dalai said, CF has competitions like this where the competitors do as many as they can with increasing weight after so many reps.

Time could be better spent than doing Xfit. Go get a weightlifting coach :) do some power snatches and power cleans, then some squats.

Crossfit's big hero is Rich Froning. He's totally mediocre at everything. Pretty good microcosm of crossfit itself.

In all seriousness the issue with Crossfit is the lack of progression. You cannot make progress without logical progression. Doing random **** is not logical progression. If you want to be ok-ish at a thousand different things, do crossfit. If you want to be a strong, well conditioned athlete, and kick ass in your sport, don't.

I also don't personally think the classic lifts (snatch and CnJ) are that great for athlete's strength training, but that's another topic.

Ethan I agree with the last bit. I'd say power clean and squats are, along with pulls.

This allows you to shift more weight, for more reps. Whereas snatch and full cleans require a lot of skill and technique. But if you can already do them, then why not eh?!

Squat at technique May breakdown as your set goes on, but strength (or lack of) will only make you fail a rep, whereas a snatch can be missed in multiple ways.

My issue with them is the skill involved, it took me forever to learn to clean and I still can't clean what I can front squat. Also, for me personally the fast and deep knee bend contributes quickly to overuse and the rack position does the same to my wrists. About four or five weeks in to cleaning once a week and snatching once a week, I'm a mess. I want to learn them properly soon though, just because it's an awesome sport.

If you're already a weightlifter, they're a great tool. I'm just not convinced learning them is worth it for an athlete just for SandC purposes. Power variations, sure.

Agree.

You just need to build the durability and embrace the achy knees and wrists lol. I've snatched or power snatched everyday this week I think, and clean and jerked 3 times. But haven't touched a bike until tomorrow lol :) my wrist does hurt though...

they are a skill and yeah I'd stick to the powers for anyone reading. Even then, they aren't simple.
