Track Tire Tread Questions - Concrete Vs. Wood Tracks
Hello,
I have two sets of tires, a set of Veloflex Corsa 23 Clinchers and a set of Challenge Criterium Clinchers and I'm wondering whicnh one is better for concrete and wood tracks. I race at Marymoor Velodrome (400m concrete track, 25 degree max banking, fairly smooth but has some roughness) and also plan on racing up at Burnaby, BC too (250m wood track, 45 degree max banking). Does anyone have any thoughts about which tire might be better for each surface?

I am not the tire expert, but those seem like the same basic tire to me. Either would be fine, if not over doing it just a touch for track racing.

Tread pattern means nothing on a road slick tire, it is there purely for aesthetics (even in the wet).
Either tire would work fine at either track. At burnaby you may need to 'scrub' your tires up if they are new or dirty, this is just because the wood is fairly slick and at 47deg can be hard to ride slow around. Otherwise don't worry about it too much
