Which WR's will go in Mexico this weekend?
So the 2nd round of the World Cup rolls into Aguascalientes Mexico, and it looks like it'll be a fast one, if last years competition is anything to go by.
I've got a feeling it'll be WR central, even though we're not at the season finale World Champs.
Men's 200, Women's 200, Men's and Women's Team Sprint, Womens Team Pursuit and the Kilo are all in danger.
The one I'd most like see go is the kilo, especially if Pervis is in any kind of form, as the ride he did at worlds last year was stunning, a repeat of that at altitude has got to put him in reach of Tournant's mark of 58.875.
We could see the first sub 17second opening lap in the Team Sprint unless they go for even bigger gears to get a higher delivery speed for man2.
Women's 4k in danger again, I think it helps it's a new event and the learning curve means WR's almost everytime it's raced, but I think if it goes this weekend could be a while before it goes again. I may be wrong.
I think the way Forstemann has been riding all year 9.572 is easily within his sights in the 200, I mean he did 9.7 on Manchester, and has been going sub 10 comfortably around the world on some pretty slow tracks.
Anyway they're my thoughts, open to you guys now.

Wow-you're not joking. Last year, sprint times were extremely fast even without many of the sport's big names. https://www.cyclingnews.com/races/uci.../day-3/results
It would really be something to see some WRs broken this weekend. Fingers crossed! Don't forget to watch it live on https://www.youtube.com/user/ucichannel

For those who want to see qualifying times, splits, etc... go here: https://tissottiming.com/Competition?...t=CT&year=2013
You can also find similar detailed results from past events there, too.

I'll be shocked if Tournant's kilo record falls.

On the other hand, it is a way to get to the top 4 quickly, and you get a situation where the top of half of the 1-8 are in tight competition and the top half of the 9-16 are also in tight competition. That said, you'd get way more people into sprinting if it didn't emphasis the three-race prowness of the top riders. I guess it used to be that to win a tourney you'd have to race, like, 10 times or more. There was that element of endurance which forced competitors to lower gears in the lower rounds and the semifinals weren't almost predetermined by the 200m qualifier.

The top 16 were from 9.633 (Juan Peralta Gascon - SPA) to 9.895

And it's started already, 5 events in, Men's and Womens Team sprint, and Womens 4km TP World Records have gone, Ed Clancy clocked a 12.417 flying lap in the omnium (9.935 @200) and the first sub 17 opening lap in the Team Sprint. This is the first morning of competition. Gonna be a quick meet!

40 of the 41 riders went under 10". #41 rode 10.037"
They've gotta be juicing the track with Cheetah Blood or something.

I still don't see a non-omnium kilo listed on Tissot. Am I missing something?

Ah, cool there it is, thanks! That was not showing up on my mobile somehow.
Is anybody getting the UCI YouTube feed to work? I just get a countdown clock that clicks over every 24 hrs and never any content.
