    Training Status:

    closing out on what will be 12 days of no training, assuming I can get back on it Wednesday. My serious cold took a hard dive into pneumonia. Day 3 of antibiotics and I'm starting to feel decent- but my lungs are wrecked.
    Woke up at 180lbs this morning- 7lbs lighter than when this all started.. . Presumably a big chunk of that is just dehydration- more just a clear indicator of how hard the last few days have been on my body.

    An all out kilo is automatically track training, right?







    Even if it's at the end of a 60 mile road race?

    Quinn, I am probably fighting the same bug. Two weeks now; I ignored my own advice about rest and staying off the bike the first week because I had a junior I coach in town. This week was really bad.

    I seem to be improving the last couple of days.

    Hope you can get back at it. I am shooting for Tuesday, fingers crossed.

    Got my rest week in and a couple days at the track to focus on pursuit efforts. Lots of speed, feeling like the winter in AZ really paid off.

    Road race season starts next weekend but I think I am going to skip it. Just no interest in spending the weekend traveling to some race, riding for a few hours at sub threshold with 1 sprint at the end, I feel like my time would be better spent at the track (plus the track is free). Riding long and slow just makes you good at riding long and slow right?

    As soon as the clocks go forward the summer evening chaingangs start here. The guys who have been racing on the track all winter are all going really well - even managing to put the hurt on climbing against guys 10-15kg lighter (admitedly quite short hills!). I know it wont last beyond this month as they find their legs and relearn to suffer, but for now it is an experience to savour

    Until now, I've been focusing on raw strength. Capped it off with single leg press set that was 160% of my previous years' PB in that lift. I achieved 3 new PBs via 3 full resets this winter/spring.

    This week I'm starting my Power phase in the gym and in the bike. My 30s power is already on par with mid-season form.

    My conditioning is in the crapper. I stumbled upon my road bike in the garage this weekend and rode it. I forgot I had one

    yesterday was my first day back in 2.5wks. Im trying to balance my brains need to absolutely destroy myself in training- with my lungs and muscles need to ease back into this..

    My track isn't open yet (on account of it being a car race track first, then a Velodrome). Debating going out to T-Town early morning to ride there. Anyone know if you can generally just use the track as long as there are no scheduled programs running? the protocol at GSVA is very different.

    Weather is starting to warm up here (finally) so our track is seeing less and less people. Soon it will only be open 1 or 2 days a week and even then I heard only a couple people show up. Even last week we had only 4 guys for drills/practice racing which usually draws 15 or so. Boo to summer.
