A 'bro' at my gym just called me "Lance". One of the drawbacks of coming to these places I guess.

It's just a little payback for when he gets called "Arnold" by all the lycra dorks at the coffee shop.

You told him it was clever and asked him if he thought that one up all by his self, right?

A quick confirmation that you're anyone but Lance might have been to simply whip out both testicles. Something tells me that bro would avoid being in the gym at the same time as you for a little while.

On another note; how did the guy know you're a cyclist? Have you been working out in your skinsuit again?

Dalai, how are you feeling? Is there much pain?

I started working on speed today. I took note of how fast I can go on flat ground for one minute. I'll work on improving that. I rode my road bike for the first time in a long time. I think I was cruising at 23.5. Don't laugh; a person has to start somewhere.

Hard to tell. We might need a separate thread and sticky for this.

Hah! I didn't get it until the bib bit. Aren't I silly.

If it was a friendly jab, no harm no foul. I have two Muslims and Jews that train together. Hilarity regularly ensues. They're all light hearted about things. And if they can be... who can't?

With my tan lines I hope people realize Im a cyclist at the gym, and not just a crazy person (assuming there is a difference). My girlfriend says I look like someone dipped me in caramel.

Yeah, it was harmless. But I still took offense. I mean, isn't it obvious I'm a trackie?? Jeesh...

Did a standing start workout today at the track. I didn't fall of the bike.

I think I saw jmikami on the road today as I left the track. Was that you in a Lanrover/Orbea kit riding a Veloforma road bike? That dude is built like a runningback. Like Emmitt Smith!

Good job catching some decent weather at the track, looks like it will be an off week for track work this week.

Yep that was me finishing up my ride today, rest week is over and time to get some more hours. Hoping to get more track time in next month, still mostly road work for me.

Long weekend of racing has left me with a pretty sore back. I think the cobblestone racing I did saturday on my track bike is the culprit. The redbull race was awesome though, one of the best events I've been to. And the winner of the race was actually on a fixed gear!

Does anyone here race at IVBP in Detroit? Racing is finished in Ontario now so looking to start riding the outdoor tracks and have never been.

Track session at Hellyer this AM and we had 8 racers attending. After the 30 lap warmup, I did three standing starts and two 10 lap efforts behind the motor. I start the efforts with 2 laps behind the motor and then do one lap in the pole lane by myself. The motor pulls behind me and I swing up and the motor goes underneath. I end up doing a kilo by myself at race pace in race gears. Today, everything was amazingly easy and I had to check to see if I had a chain. Between efforts, I was on the rollers for recovery.

Tonight is another workout at my coaches' cycling gym on the rollers.

I am at one of those critical junctures in training and just waiting to burst out some more hard work. I finished up a really hard 3 week interval block, with a full rest week after and was planning to go hard this week and start another block ... but something is just not right yet. Listening to your body is so important, especially since my A race is so far away (August), but it is so hard to rest up another week when it was not in my schedule (self inflicted).

Help keep me away from intervals for another week so that I can put in the work when it matters more and rest now when it appears obvious that my body is asking for it.

Just a 75 minute zone 2/3 spin for me today ... intervals scratched for a second time this week.

My season just got a serious kick in the ass!

the past 5 months i trained exclusively in my garage- averaging 3 gym sessions a week and 8hrs of saddle time made up of Rollers, track workouts on the Ergo and my saturday 2hr group ride.

a couple weeks ago i committed to my first race of the season, which is in 2 weeks...
I managed to hold on to some solid power with the ergo training- but i need to re-learn how to lay it down on the track!
so my new race prep schedule is:
mon- Hard Gym (5x5 squats and deads) 45min Rollers
tue- (AM) Ergo 2.5hrs of my longer Kilo type efforts
(PM) 40-min Criterium and warm-up
wed- Easy Gym/45min rollers
thur- Track- moto-paced session focused on 500m efforts and some flying 200's
fri- Gym/45min Ergo- short stacked intervals
sat- Track- Stacked 500's/Flying 100's/Moto lead-in 200's
sun- BBQ!

Its looking like a solid 9hrs of saddle time this week- This is actually pretty different than my training in the past, since i don't have a Kilo coming up soon.. so efforts are shorter.
I tend to respond well to high volume and short tapers-
we'll see if this alt-off-season plan paid off this year...

Today I drove the two hours into T-town. Definitely a nice track there, too bad it's about 100 miles away....

Weather sucks. Need to get on the bike but a high of 8C and rain all weekend is starting to sound like it might not happen much. It is almost May right? Spring happened at some point?
