Absolute fish in a barrel for someone like Jaytron. The 1/2/3 are pretty much the exact opposite story... but even there, at least one race in the omnium (sometimes two) will be suitable for the sprinters.

123 guys racing much more aggressively thank 3's and 4s seems pretty typical for road races, crits, and track to me. I think it's influenced a lot by fear of being dropped/having confidence in your racing. Cat 2 already knows he can race a bike, if he gets dropped by the counter to his move... At least he raced. I think it's more traumatic for a cat 4 who hasn't raced years/been consistently successful to get dropped in that situation.
Do you think we're gonna make it? / I don't know unless we try \ you could sit here scared to move / or we could take them by surprise

Instead, they sat in... and sure, they were fresh at the end... and still got stomped on the final laps. So what's the point of "doing no work?" F'n race. Track is so much more fun than crits... why turn it into one? I'm not saying do the suicide flame out. But when I see 24 guys jockey at the blue line for the majority of a cat 4 scratch race, it's baffling.

This is exactly what I have been trying to enforce on people! Some guys I ride with are way to happy with 'top 10', so concerned about blowing up that they end up finishing with gas left in the tank.

yeah. that's really common, and really conservative.

i spent monday's criterium wondering why guys with no sprint were chasing my moves.

Mark, Looks like you'll be able to race today. Overcast, but not too bad. I'm hoping the same with Wall.

Really fun day of 250's today. Pretty sure I PR'd by a full second but I'm still using a stop watch so... who knows. Felt fast. And my gas tank is solid much deeper into the session. I don't start to revel in the break period until round six or seven now. Commuting so much has helped immensely, I feel.

Still trying to figure out the wind-up/approach on short efforts. Are there any videos in particular you guys recommend watching for max effort 200 technique??
On the last and best one I stood and got on it much sooner and as a result tucked down sooner. It felt like I wasn't at full speed until 20m into each effort and that one felt great. Seemed more like I was fighting to maintain my cadence much sooner. So, I guess that's improvement??

Also, the other day a guy showed up with a Tiemeyer. First time I've seen one in person. That's a damn good looking bike. I wanted to stay and chat and maybe even try to pace the guy (trololol) but I was on a lunch break. Womp, womp, wommmmp

Here's some sprinters doing a flying lap, which is unusual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNwlh0Vbuh8

Just check this guy's channel in general for anything sprint-related: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3x...UbhQMhAQ3fuN-A

Hm, another sprint tournament happened today.

    The good:
Fairly good from winning from the front

The bad: unclipped twice in races I would have won. My cleats were super worn... bought new ones today.

Oh, another PB as well. Which is pretty insane, because my last PB was with a taper... Beat it by just over a tenth, running 11.25

something I don't understand- why so many use straps and so few use velcro.
More aero, more secure, easier off and on, ...

but what do I know says the guy w/ +/-1100 peak power.

Straps stay open easier, so entry and exit are easier. That's not the case with Velcro straps.

Velcro feels better (better pressure distribution), but I need to hold on to something to get them setup. I can get in and out of straps while rolling.

Interesting in that video is the variety of bikes being used. Three riders had aero bars, but the two French riders never used them. And Rousseau lost by 0.004 sec.

Yeah, new cleats and straps are definitely happening.

Went with 0 float cleats. Might even change to a Shimano pedal system as people keep talking about it.

I would have put you on Shimano pedals, zero-float cleats, and straps on day-1.

What are you on now? Whatever it is, I would definitely think hard about going to Shimano SPD-SL.

I thought you were on Look pedals yourself? Zero float cleats weren't purchased, because I was wary of using them on the road, haha. Now that I have them, they're not that bad.

Raced this Sunday and realized how hard I've been slacking the last month due to vacations and friends visiting. I was able to hang and get third but it was a small field for the 4/5's.

Finally got to try out this disc wheel on one of the local road time trial. Along with a smaller gearing, 46/17 compared to previous 46/15, I was able to shave just over 2min on my previous time. Not fast by any means but getting there. I missed the first two session track intro classes at NSC so now I'm just waiting for session3 classes which doesn't start til July 22nd. I figured while I wait I could do hill repeats to build up strength and local road TT to build up my lungs.

I've been on Shimano since 2010.

I tried LOOK KEO MAX 2 for about a week or two, but the release tension of the Shimanos were much higher and the platform feels wider.

Unable to get any time on the track today since I had to get to work by the time we got the track clean enough. Hoping to get some time behind the motor tomorrow though. Gotta be ready for Indy next week!

picked up little bits of information from the neighbors. there was a pretty bad accident that sent a car through the fence, the boards, and then down into the infield around 11 last night. Glass is everywhere
