Pittsburgh Velodrome- Any Updates?

There's rumored to be a 200m indoor track being built in Pittsburgh. Claims are that it will be open this year. Anyone have any recent updates on this?

They updated their fb today saying there have been.lots of delays due to local government (which seems fishy to me) and weather (slightly less fishy.).

Their post:
"We've been getting a lot of questions about construction updates and the launch of our website. We wish that we could give you the news that we are opening the velodrome next week; however, both local government delays and mother-nature make that impossible. Our full website will give you a better look into the construction process as well as the progress. We are currently putting some finishing touches on the website, but look out for the official launch early next week!"

I'm looking forward to the updated website. From what I've been able to dig up, it looks like there is a structure built on the site of the velodrome. Whether there's any track at all inside is info I've been unable to find. I would assume that once it's actually *built*, there's a damn fine chance of it coming into use.
Anyone in the area? Anyone in the know?

Really wish these guys had this finished over the winter. Have to drive 8 hours to get some time on an open track. Also the advantage of winter training cyclist capture with all the snow the Burgh has gotten has been lost. With that said, I have gotten timely updates and friendly responses to all my inquires on the progress of the velo. Hoping for the best for these guys and gals.

And five weeks later. . .

Is this another failed project?

This was posted on fb 2 hrs ago.

Thanks to Blue Archer, our website just went live!

See all of your options at the velodrome-- whether you want to race, ride, train, or just watch.

Check it out: Home | Island 200 Velodrome

We should be opening by late spring or early summer. You can see the construction updates and stay posted on the new website!

Ah ha! It seems that every time there's a post here, there's another progression at Island200. Maybe if we keep on it here, there will be a Pittsburgh velodrome by April.

Fingers crossed.

Very cool, glad its coming together! Toronto's track (250m) will be done this summer, so that will be 3 indoor tracks in the area next winter. No more off season!
