Woah. GB TP team rode a 4:04 - 7th place! That's a surprise.

Men TP: Gold - Denmark v Australia. Bronze - Russia v New Zealand"

Their best split was the first kilo where they were 4th fastest. It was downhill from there. Their last Kilo was 10th fastest.
I'm not into pursuits, but maybe they picked the wrong gears to use? Too big?

GBR and AUS not even making the final is a shocker. Nice going NZL!

and she missed a medal by little more than a bike throw. here's the race - pretty exciting. i love the roar when the colombian woman attacks.

so i don't follow sprint events all that closely, but i was surprised to see Russia in the bronze medal ride for the team sprint. where'd they come from?

Canadian women qualify 2nd, race for gold against those monstrous GB women tonight.
And my boy Hugo finished 3rd in the Keirin! Can't wait for tonight's racing.

I wonder if the velodrome being semi-exposed and a bit windy is throwing a wrench into the events with more meticulous preparation and timing, like the team pursuit. from what some of the riders are saying, it certainly sounds like it.

I just watched the video of the women's TP and the announcer commented that Rowsell said to him that they train in a "'sterile environment'" and the Cali track has "'a headwind going down the back straight and it's like riding a team time trial on the road...so difficult to guage. She also said that the compression in the bends it's so hard to keep your lines.'"

GB women were certainly a bit messy towards the end. Really pleased to see Katie Archibald do well she only started racing a couple of years ago (grass track at Highland Games events) and has only been in the Olympic development squad since November. She has made massive progress so far.
Camera work in the mens scratch race was rather frustrating in the final few laps - all the focus was on the lone rider who was going to get 4th place and the battle for the podium was completly missed!

WTP race was amazing, edge of my seat for 4mins. GB is a faster team no doubt, but when Canada was winning for the first 3k and then GB fell apart in the last 500....UGH!!!
Some of the scratch races were really good too. I agree the camera was dumb, its like they thought that guy was winning and not desperately trying to lap the field (with no chance of it happening).
Track racing is 1000% more interesting to watch than road racing, why don't people get that

men's scratch was actually really confusing to me until i realized that my livestream's audio and video were off - by about five laps! women's was a great race - i loved the absolute roar from the crowd when the colombian woman attacked.
