I saw that as well. Are you planning on doing it?

I am hoping to do one at Alpenrose later this year. It will not be anywhere near 49.7 or .8 or whatever Fabian takes it to, but it will be on a pursuit bike. Should be an interesting day, with any luck I might be able to get my name on our local board.

It kind of surprised me. The way things have been going I would have been less surprised by "You have to do it on Eddy's bike, in the condition he left it."

Finally common sense prevails.
Yes admittedly technology improves over time, and that will have some influence on distances, but still hopefully it'll bring back the interest, magic and prestige there was in the early 90's when Obree, Boardman, Indurain and Rominger all went head to head.
The biggest influence now on the distance is going to be the track used, as that can have even more influence than skinsuit, tubs, helmets, bikes, wheels. No good having all the best kit then riding on a slow track. My bet is anyone going for the record would be stupid not to do it on the Aguascalientes track in Mexico.

Most of the articles talk about pursuit bikes for this but a strict reading of bikes for endurance competitions would not allow aero bars or a front disk. Has anyone seen any clarification on this typical UCI fuzziness?
