    Fork replacement needed - suggestions?

    Ugh.

So in a totally uninteresting way I cracked the fork on my 09 Fuji Track Pro. The crack runs almost all the way around the blade of the fork, the paint is chipping and applying a bit of pressure to it creates cracking sounds. I think it's in my best interests to say it's shot. Now on to replacing it:

I could call Fuji and see if they have any sort of replacement. Their recent entry-level aluminum bikes share many elements of the 09 FTP, so I would wager that they'd be able to supply an appropriate part. I'm just concerned about cost. Does anyone either recommend calling them or have experience with this sort of thing?

I could also simply just buy a new fork. The replacement that I've been using came off of my girlfriend's track bike, a Fuji Track Comp from the same year. Her's has an axle to crown measurement of 370mm, while mine was 368mm. There seems to be no appreciable difference in handling. That being said, I'm looking mostly at these forks that Retrogression has:

Alpina F04 track fork | Retrogression

    Leader I803TR fork | Retrogression

    Leader S805 fork | Retrogression

I am most tempted by the Alpina, since I see that name pop up on higher-end competition track bikes, and the rake matches the stock fork (30mm). What do folks suggest?

The guy that owns Retrogression is a very active member here on Bikeforums. He's a great guy and I've ordered lots of stuff from him. I've asked him to comment in this thread or you can contact him directly. He knows his stuff.

Carleton gave me the heads up that you were asking.

I wouldn't put a steel fork on that frame. If it were my bike, I'd go with the Alpina (actually, I did.) A 2mm difference in axle to crown will never be noticeable by anyone.

Dolan has been using Alpina stuff for a while. The British used 33cm Alpina sprint bars before having their own made.

The Wing Pista fork has been rebranded even as a Fuji fork on the first Fuji Track Elite:

    Same fork as:

The Alpina F04 is pretty much the same as the Wing Pista, except it has a heavier (and more durable) aluminum steerer tube.

I've used both the Wing Pista: https://www.flickr.com/photos/carlet...l/14503688933/

    And F04: https://www.flickr.com/photos/carleton_hall/5758844539/

I also bought a F04 from Retrogression for a new custom build that never happened The builder flaked out.

So, yeah, I'd recommend the F04

Thanks for the input, guys! I'll be ordering the Alpina shortly.
