I gave up soda, pop, whatever years ago. Mostly I drink water. I DO enjoy a rum or whiskey and Coke a couple of times a week, but I use a shot of rum or whiskey, a shot of Coke, then fill with club soda, seltzer, or sparkling water. (12 oz.) I do drink coffee in the mornings.

Gave up aspartame, in any carrier (drinks, desserts, anything) as of now.

I found soda difficult to give up. However, once I quit soda, I dealt with caffeine withdrawals for a good 2 weeks. It sucked, but after that I was fine and found myself feeling better. After a year of not having it, I tasted it again, and it was pretty bad to be honest. Now I drink it occasionally if there's nothing else available. I don't like drinking tap water from restaurants so if they don't have a bottle I will ask for soda.

at most restaurants I iced drink tea. It usually has less caffeine than soda. At home I drink lots of decaffeinated tea.

Had to cut back, should give it up for intestinal reasons. It's the carbonation. I've been a long time heavy soda drinker too, not what caused my problem though. Couldn't eat meat, fruits or vegetables for a while. It was just yogurt, bread and water. Had trouble finding alternatives. Had just started drinking coffee when I had to give up pop. I drink sweet tea and water mostly. Red meat still gives me the heebeejeebies.
