Switching Training Resistance Units in TrainerRoad?
I just started training on TrainerRoad, and had a question about how virtual power works when using different units. I assume that when changing the option for the "Power Unit" (i.e. the trainer model or rollers), that it will apply that power curve to the workout. Is this correct?
For example, yesterday I performed the 20 min FTP test yesterday utilizing a Cycleops Fluid 2. I like to switch it up between using the trainer and rollers, so today I performed a 2 hour workout on the rollers (Travel Trac Pro Alloy). I changed the power unit in the settings, and it seemed like it applied that power unit's power curve to the workout (e.g. about 220w on the Cycleops Fluid 2 was about 18.7 mph, and 220w on the rollers was 22 mph). I assume I don't need to perform a separate FTP test for each different power unit, correct?

Good question. When I switched from virtual power to a power meter, I redid the ftp test and came up with somewhat different results. Now I'm not sure whether that was because of the change in power, or just because I performed differently on the test.

I don't have separate FTP. I use the rollers for lower intensity work anyway and figure that as long as its in the ballpark its ok. I'm pretty sure the FTP would be different though; but I find it less important do to the nature of the work.

What is it that is feeding speed to TrainerRoad? If you're using a speed sensor on your rear wheel, then moving your resistance up or down will change the speed achieved at a given power.
