Test of 20 minutes...
Hi, I'm currently training by heart rate. I took the test 20 minutes before starting the base.
Soon I will finish the base, need to do another test 20 minutes or this is not necessary?.
Some have told me that for training by heart rate is not necessary. Trained by watts if that would be necessary for training short series of high intensity.
What should I do?. The ideal is a potentiometer, but I can't buy at present.
Thanks! .

Assuming you are testing for LTHR, I'd say it's worth retesting. In the early stages of training it seems to be trainable - mine rose about 5 bpm over the course of a year, which isn't huge but isn't totally insignificant either. It didn't seem to move after that, though, so I'm guessing that once you've been training for a while -in my case, a year or so - it reaches its ceiling.
The amount of power you can produce at LTHR changes considerably, of course, but that's another story.

But...When I need repeat the Test, at the end of the training base or at the end the training plan?. And yes, I'm testing for LTHR .

Given that the test is quite easy to do, I'd be inclined to test every two or three months for the first year or so, or until it seems to have stopped rising.

Might be better complete the whole plan and then I do another Test to quantitatively assess the impact of the training plan?.
I mean, if I had potentiometer would be interesting to carry out tests more often...
Thanks .

If you're going to finish your base period soon, I'd probably wait, personally. Finish with the zones you have now then test to see what progress you've made.

Los dos. Both. It's more data and since the test itself is a pretty good workout, you can just build it into your plan. Make sure you have a day or two of rest before the test so you can be fresh enough to give it your full effort.
